Montana’s Big Game General Season ends this weekend, but that doesn’t mean all Big Game hunting is over. Fish Wildlife and Parks has approved Shoulder seasons for ANTLERLESS elk hunting in a few centrally located Region 4 hunting districts.
The season will kick off November 30 in HD’s 445,446, 449 and 452. In those districts if you have an elk general license you may take an antlerless elk. There are other permits and B tags that can be used in specific HD’s. That information is on FWP Shoulder Season webpage that is linked below. The Shoulder Season in HD’s 445, 446, 449, and 453 closes on February 15, 2016.
HD 410 is different in that one must possess a 410-20 Either Sex Elk permit and a general Elk license or a 410-00 B permit to take advantage of a shorter Shoulder Season. The Shoulder Season in HD 410 runs from January 1, 2016 through February 15, 2016.
You still have opportunity to fill your freezer.
